Legendary Brummie
Carl Wayne showed he has lost none of his frontman style - 30 years after
leaving The Move,
Moseley boy Carl has replaced Hollies' founder member Allan
Clarke, who retired last year, but the quality
remains the same.
The band that produced such outstanding ballads as 'The
Air That I Breathe' and
'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother',
were in splendid, timeless form. From the opening bars of 'I'm
Alive' and 'Here I Go
Again', the Wayne-led Hollies had the full house
singing and clapping along in the first of two Sunday shows.
Carl, who admitted seeing the original Hollies in concert at The Ritz, Kings
Heath, in 1963, sang divinely despite the passage of time. And there was even
room for the occasional Move classic, including the still superb flower power
anthem, 'Flowers In The Rain.'
